Tuesday Trivia: Did you know THIS actor was approached before Shahid Kapoor for Padmaavat?

Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat is considered to be a gem of Hindi cinema from filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The magnum opus, which collected over Rs. 300 crore net at the box office, is one of highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time. Apart from SLB's brilliant direction, the period drama was appreciated for the performances of its lead stars. Now, while we can't imagine any other actors playing Rani Padmavati, Alauddin Khilji and Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, you will be amazed to know that Shahid Kapoor was not the first choice for the character of Deepika Padukone's husband. In fact, it was Vicky Kaushal.

The Raazi actor told us, "We were in talks, but then, certain things fall in place, certain things don't fall in place. For me, you need to try and understand, my first film came out in 2015 a small, humble film like Masaan. And if because of that one film, a Director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali calls you to his office and tells you that you are a contender for a part in his next, that in itself means a huge deal for me. There I have got the film, I have lived the character, I got everything with that one call. This is not the end of the world. We'll keep working. He (SLB) will keep making films. I will, Inshallah, keep being a part of films, and we will probably cross paths again. So, these are all just a part and parcel of the industry that you are in. I absolutely have no regrets. In fact, I feel lucky that I got a call, he even thought of me. He is a Director where actors line up to just be a part of his films. But out of everyone, the fact that he just thought of me in itself is a big deal for me. I feel fortunate that such doors, too, are opening for me."

Ask Vicky about the role he was offered, and he adds, "It was for the Ratan Singh's part (played by Shahid Kapoor). But like I said, this is the case with every next film there are many actors in the running, then they consider other things to fit the role, and finally it just falls into one person's kitty. That's how it goes. But I loved Padmaavat." Well, we soon hope SLB and Vicky join hands soon and give us a blockbuster.

Meanwhile, the actor is currently gearing up for the release of Bhoot: Part One, which is set to hit screens this Friday. The horror film also stars Bhumi Pednekar, and will lock horns with Ayushmann Khurrana's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan at the box office. So, out of these two films, which is your pick?
