Indian 2 accident: 'It’s my duty to narrate the sequence of incidents,' says Kamal Haasan on his interrogation

A couple of days ago, on the sets of Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2, a freak accident took place in which three lives were lost. A crane had fallen on the sets where Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and director Shankar were shooting. The three of them escaped unhurt but unfortunately, three technicians, named, Madhu, Chandran and Krishna had lost their lives. It was reported that the actor-turned-politician had been approached for interrogation for the same by the Central Crime Branch police yesterday.

The actor arrived dutifully and answered various questions. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the interrogation lasted for three hours and had been taped as well. While talking to the media later, Kamal Haasan said, "Police summoned me to collect details about the crane accident. I'm one of those who escaped unhurt. It's my duty to narrate the sequence of incidents."

The actor learning from the incident also discussed the ways to keep the shooting environment safe and prevent such accidents. "Very soon, we will be taking it up with the film fraternity and seek police advisory on such accidents," the actor went on to add.

As of now, the Nazarethpet police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (A) (death caused due to negligence) against the crane operator, production manager of the film and the banner behind the film, Lyca Productions. When the case was transferred to the Central Crime Branch the reporting crane operator was arrested for the lost lives.

Earlier, when he visited the hospital to check on the injured, Haasan had revealed that he would be donating money to the families of Madhu, Chandran and Krishna. "The Nazarethpet police registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (A) (death caused due to negligence) against the crane operator, production manager of the film and the banner behind the film, Lyca Productions. Later, the case was transferred to the Central Crime Branch and the crane operator was arrested."
