WTF Wednesday: Charmme Kaur ‘happily welcoming’ coronavirus is the last thing we needed to see

As you might be aware, coronavirus is causing panic and havoc all across the globe. Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.

India on Monday recorded two fresh cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the number of people who have tested positive for the respiratory illness in the country to five. While the world is in shock, Telugu actor and director Charmme Kaur on Monday uploaded a TikTok video in which she was happily announcing that coronavirus has reached Delhi. "All the best guys. You know why? Because coronavirus has arrived in Delhi and Telangana," she said in a video, while laughing. Yes, she actually said that. We really don't know what is wrong with her. She said it like some famous foreign band had arrived in India and she was excited to watch them perform or she announced as if was the sale day of an e-commerce site. It was really insensitive on her part. We also want to know what her team was thinking?

Charmme later deleted the controversial video after receiving a lot of flak on social media. She also issued an apology, tweeting, "I have read all your comments and I apologise for the video posted...it was an act of immaturity for a very sensitive topic and hence, shall be careful in my further reactions."

As we speak, 90933 cases have been recorded so far and the deadly virus has claimed 3120 lives. China reported its lowest number of new coronavirus cases in more than a month on Tuesday. However, infections around the world continue to increase. outside of China showed troubling signs of growing. In South Korea, site of the second-largest outbreak, the number rose on Monday to more than 4,800, nearly double the caseload on Friday. The rate of increase was even faster in Europe, where officials warned residents to prepare for large outbreaks.

And in Iran, the scale of the largest outbreak in the Middle East remained unclear, with the government confirming 1,501 cases and public health experts expressing concern that the official numbers were unreliable. We really hope that a vaccination is found for virus really soon.
