‘Everyone knows that there’s not enough testing happening,’ says Karanvir Sharma on COVID-19 [Exclusive]

The situation is really grim across the world right now due to Coronavirus. More than 20 lakh people worldwide have tested positive and 1,33,572 people have died. In India, almost 12,000 people are infected by the virus and it has claimed 392 lives. The nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 3. We spoke with Karanvir Sharma about a lot of things and the main topic of discussion was obviously COVID-19.

Talking stock of the situation, Karanvir said, "The best decision our government made was closing doors earlier. The first time I think our PM tweeted about it was on 5th March. From then on, it became serious. However, I do feel for our daily wage workers. They require a certain income every day. I feel for them. There's not enough testing happening everyone knows that. There's a chance of community spreading. I was seeing this news about a hospital which had 25 patients who didn't have any travel history or coming in contact with someone who has a travel history. That means it's a community spread. So what does that say? It says that be at home. The more we are at home, the faster we can go back to our daily lives."

He seemed very concerned about what is happening and said, "It's going a big battle. It will be a new life and we all must adjust with it now. I'm a little scared about that. One of school friends said that this will be the new normal. That's something to think about."

Talking about the household chores, Karanvir said, "I've promised to not clean my bathroom more than once a week. Hats off to all the maids around the world. I don't know how they do it. You find things which you thought were lost years ago. You also find things which are scarier than the exorcism of Emily Rose."
