Happy birthday Akhil Akkineni: Did you know that the Hello actor is connected to Baby's Day Out?

Akhil Akkineni, superstar Nagarjuna's son and Naga Chaitanya's younger brother, turns 26 today. While the actor did not have the most auspicious beginning to his acting career, with his debut feature, Akhil (yes, his first film was also his namesake), turning out to be a disaster, the scion of his vaunted film family managed to find his footing with his sophomore effort, Hello, leading to King Nag (his father's affectionate moniker) all over heaving a collective sigh of relief. However, did y'all know that Akhil had appeared in cinema long before his launch in 2015, and it's connected to the evergreen Hollywood family comedy, Baby's Day Out? If not, then, on his birthday, let's stimulate your cinematic taste buds with this fantastic bit of trivia.

Back in 1995, when Akhil Akkineni was a baby himself (literally speaking, he was all of 1 year old), he was cast in the Telugu film, Sisindri, an Indian adaptation of Baby's Day Out. The film had starred and was also produced by his father, Nagarjuna. No surprises for guessing that Akhil had played the baby in the Telugu adaptation. And while the Hollywood film was critically and commercially panned upon its release in America (yes, believe it or not, Baby's Day Out was a disaster in the US, but enjoyed tremendous popularity in India, and hence, was remade with a big star), its Indian version proved to be a big hit at the box office, meaning that though Akhil didn't taste success with his debut as a lead actor, he did so as a chil artiste.

Also, no prizes for guessing that he had looked adorable in the movie as a baby lost in the world. Check out these four clips of him from Sisindri below...

Here's one in a peppy song with his reel parents:

Here's a scene where little Akhil is missing his reel parents:

This one's a rib-tickling comedy scene of Akhil escaping the clutches of a villain:

And, we've saved the best for last this iconic moment of Nagarjuna and Akhil together on screen for the first time:

Happy birthday, Akhil Akkineni, and may you go on to entertain us for years to come.
