Coronavirus pandemic: Poonam Pandey booked by Mumbai Police for violating lockdown rules

Model-cum-actress Poonam Pandey was on Sunday booked by Mumbai Police for violating the coronvirus-induced lockdown norms, an official said. An FIR was registered against Panedy and a person accompanying her by the Marine Drive Police. She was found roaming in her high-end car at Marine Drive, Mumbai, without any reason, as per the police report. The report further states that her car has been confiscated by the police.

"A case has been registered against Pandey and Sam Ahmad Bombay (46) under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life) and 188 (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under provisions of the National Disaster Act," senior police inspector Mrityunjay Hiremath told PTI.

Poonam Pandey has has multiple run-ins with the law before due to being embroiled in some controversy or another. Earleir this year in February, she was in the news for filing a case against Shilpa Shett's husband, Raj Kundra, and his associates for for violating the clause of their agreement and using content featured on her app even after their contract had terminated.

In the past, she, has been on the receiving end of cases filed against her, too. However, truth be told, unlike the legitimate flouting of COIVD-19 guidelines that she has been booked for this time, several of those cases were filed by so-called moral custodians of the society, deeming it fit to dictate to others what they can or cannot do, wear or should not wear.

Prior to this, another app of Poonam's was banned by Google for excessive bold content. "I don't know why. I see many adult magazines on Play Store and App Store. It's interesting that on one hand, Google Play Store is suspending the app and on the other, some fans are 'complaining' that I am not even nude in the photos," Poonam had said about the app.
