Millind Gaba opens up on the backlash against Masakali 2.0: 'At least, it starts a conversation about remixes' [Exclusive]
With lockdown continuing to extend owing to the threat of the coronavirus pandmeic refusing to subside, it's becoming increasing difficult for film, TV, music and web series fans to get to know about what their favourite artistes are up to. However, we've decided to bridge the gap somewhat by conducting regular Instagram live sessions with some of the most popular celebrities out there, in order the satiate the appetite of our readers and viewers, while also giving y'all something to look forward to while we're all under quarantine.
Recently, BollywoodLife got in touch with talented and versatile singer/composer/lyricist Millind Gaba for a heart-to-heart Insta live chat, where we discussed a wide range of topics from his latest single Teri Yaari plus getting Aparshakti Khurana to sing in it and the grand, old tradition of friendship-based songs in Bollywood to standing out from the crowd with original singles in the age of remixes, amassing a huge fan-following at an early stage in his career and the backlash against the onslaught of remixes nowadays.
Watch his full interview below:
Opening up on the overflow of remixes flooding the market these days and the backlash now coming form the audience against them, especially taking the case of Masakali 2.0 in quesrtion, Millind Gaba said, "What do I say about it (laughs)? I think Tanishk bhai (Tanishk Bagchi) must have made it from his heart. He must have made it exactly as how his heart would've told him to. Put, somewhere the criticism, too, is all right. At least, that starts a conversation about remixes. So many similar songs come and go, and nobody talks about them. I think everybody is working from their heart. I respect Tanishk bhai a lot as his productions are always very heavy and have a next-level feel to them. Just as we do it in Delhi, he's recreating it in Bombay. He's doing very good work, so there's not much tension (over the Masakali 2.0 backlash)"
Well, that's one way to look at it, but as Millind said, at least such widespread criticism "starts a conversation about remixes", and it's a conversation that the industry needs to seriously have.
