Pritam Chakraborty bereaved as his father passes away at 86

Renowned Bollywood music composer, Pritam Chakraborty's father, Prabodh Chakraborty breathed his last on Sunday, May 24. He was battling two serious diseases and succumbed to them at the age of 86. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, late Prabodh Chakraborty had been hospitalised for the last two years owing to his medical condition. A source close to the composer-singer revealed the cause of his father's death saying, "Pritam, his mother and sister were with Prabodh Chakraborty in the hospital till the end. He was suffering from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's."

This is indeed one of the saddest news. The report further states that the last rites of Pritam's father were held on Sunday in Amboli. His close family members attended the funeral. "Given the coronavirus spread, the entire family was responsible and all the religious formalities were done with minimal attendance of immediate

family," the source further added.

It is indeed shocking and our thoughts and prayers for the family. Pritam had always kept his personal life under wraps. Talking about music, earlier in an interview, Pritam had opened up on the training of would-be musicians with IANS saying, "I have noticed that in India, we do not groom musicians well to take things professionally. Yes, we focus on our vocalists a lot, but there are other artistes too, like instrumentalists, composers and lyricists. Once we identify the talent, grooming and nurturing is important."

On the work front, Pritam has been composing songs for Kabir Khan's multi-starrer sports film, 83 that is frontline by Ranveer Singh. He also has Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Brahmastra. Pritam will also be composing music for Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha.

This year had been one of the toughest for many reasons. Firstly, COVID-19, then the loss of two dear Bollywood celebrities- Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor and deaths and suicide as a result of the loss of work and financial crunch.
