WTF Wednesday: Mayur Verma and Devoleena Bhattacharjee's social media spat is as pointless as it can be
The lockdown has meant that the whole of India is living the Bigg Boss life. But fans of the epic season of Bigg Boss 13 are still stuck in the war mode. We don't know if it is because of the lockdown or is it because of the tremendous impression their favourites have made on the show. The show got over more than three months ago, but some contestants are making news due to hullaballoo on social media. Devoleena Bhattacharjee has somehow become one of them. Her statement that she did not like Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill's chemistry in Bhula Dunga did not go down well with #SidNaaz fans. They slammed her for being apparently jealous of the success and popularity of the idols. Not one to take crap, Devoleena Bhattacharjee hit back at the trolls in an equally vitriolic manner. Later, some celebs came out in her support slamming online bullies and harassment. They included some Bigg Boss 13 contestants, including BFF Rashami Desai.
Surprisingly, people who were not even a part of Bigg Boss 13 got embroiled in the controversy. Kamaal R Khan who made a comment on the matter supporting Devoleena Bhattacharjee also got involved. Some nasty fans made a hashtag #KamLeena and started trending it. Morphed pictures of Devoleena and KRK started doing rounds on Twitter. It looks like the recent turn of events has been fuelled by this matter. Devoleena Bhattacharjee liked a VM made on the wedding of Shehnaaz Gill and Mayur Verma. The two are good friends. Some haters of Shehnaaz Gill had made the video. By liking it, Devoleena irked Mayur Verma who has filed a cyber complaint case against her. The annoying part is that Maharashtra Police and cybercrime cell is being tagged in such matters.
The country is going through a huge crisis and the cops are working in the frontline along with doctors and nurses. Even if some of them watch Bigg Boss, they surely do not have the time to think over fandom wars especially when there are bigger battles to be fought. While fans should exercise some restraint, even celebs have a responsibility on how to behave. Mayur Verma who was not even a part of Bigg Boss 13 has also taken to the matter like a moth to a flame. Defamatory and inflammatory remarks on social media are criminal and if needed, one has full rights to take a legal recourse. But is all of this necessary during this time?
