Shweta Tiwari opens up on domestic violence; reveals her family called her only once in 5 years

Shweta Tiwari has faced a lot in her personal life. Yet that has not deterred her from her path and being a mother, she had drawn her strength from her kids. The Mere Dad Ki Dulhann actress filed for divorce from her second husband, Abhinav Kohli a couple of months ago and it had been an ugly scene. Shweta opened up as to how people still have the orthodox mindset and have labelled her as the reason that her second marriage didn't work. "It's easy for people to say, 'Ladki ne hi kuch kiya hoga ya usme hi koi problem hogi, tabhi doosri shaadi bhi nahi chal payi', (The girl would have done something wrong. She would have some problem in her which is why her second marriage didn't work as well)," Shweta Tiwari told Hindustan Times in an interview.

"When I got married at the peak of my career, people told me that it's over for me. But I didn't let people's opinion penetrate my mind. I didn't even care what my khandaan will say, who only asked me how I was doing once in five years. I just care about myself, my kids, and my immediate family," she added further.

Meanwhile, the Kasautii Zindagii Kay actress opened up as to how she managed to stay strong despite adversities in an interview with Pinkvilla. "That is also because I have so many responsibilities, so many people to look after. I can't afford to be depressed, or sulk, or let myself go in the drains because I have my daughter, my son, have my house to look after. I am the only earning member, I am the only strongest, I think I am the man-woman of the house," Shweta told the portal.
