Uttar Ramayan: When Ramanand Sagar couldn't direct the initial episodes of the TV show — find out!

Ramayan is one of the most-watched TV shows in India. The TV show had been re-telecasted on DD national amidst the lockdown. The show garnered the highest TRP during the whole re-run and now, the channel is re-airing the next show, Uttar Ramayan also known as Luv Kush. The TV show narrates the story of Ram and Sita's sons Luv and Kush. However, recently Deepika Chikhalia, the actress who played the role of Sita in the show revealed that the maker, Ramanand Sagar couldn't direct the first few episodes of the show. Why? Read on...

Deepika Chikhalia revealed that Ramanand Sagar was not available and would just send scripts. "By the time Uttar Ramayan started, there were a lot of cases going on Ramanand Sagar. Most of the time he wasn't available to direct the episodes but would send the script. He made Ramayan on how it was actually written and created his own. He didn't include the folk stories on Ramayan. Hence, there were a few cases on him. His sons Moti and Anand Sagar directed the show," Deepika revealed to ETimes.

Furthermore, Deepika spoke about her experience of working in the show saying, "I would stay in Umergaon for 28 days and I was also doing films in Bengal and South that time. In Uttar Ramayan, the glam quotient which you had seen in Ramayan, lessens. It becomes a simple story of Valmiki ji, Luv Kush, motherly love, kids' education and all. It is a story of single mother. I think she is the first single mother in the history of Indian culture. It is very interesting. She leaves the palace when she was pregnant."

Uttar Ramayan originally aired from 1988 to 1989. It starred Swapnil Joshi and Mayuresh Kshetramade as Kush and Luv with Arun Govil and Deepika Chikhalia reprising their role as Ram and Sita.
