Ikk Kudi singer Shahid Mallya rips remixes apart; says, 'Those who don't have brains, make them' [Exclusive]

Shahid Mallya and Deedar Kaur are ecstatic over the release of their new single, Chadeya Fitoor, featuring popular TV actor Shivin Narang of Beyhadh 2, Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera and Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 fame and Miss India Universe 2019 winner Vartika Singh. Along with their track, the two singers also discussed a range of other subjects from nepotism in the industry and the rampant recreation of older classics in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, and while the two somewhat agree on the first topic, both have polar opposite views on the second one.

Watch their full interview below:

Opening up on the never-ending nepotism debate, Deedar, Kaur, whose elder sister, Asees Kaur, is a popular singer, said, "In any field, comparisons are inevitable when your father or someone else has already been there, and my sister is so successful, that I take it positively, it motivates me. It makes me want to achieve more than her." On the other hand, Shahid replied, "Nepotism does make your road easy, but it's talent that works for you in the end. Your family can take you to the mic, but, ultimately, it's you who have to perform."

Speaking about remixes, Shahid minced no words and stated, "Those who don't have brains, make remixes. Those who don't have the 'T' of talent, they do such things. What you get in roti-sabzi, you don't get in a pizza, and we know what's healthy, and all the renowned celebs out there have a duty to offer society only what's healthy for their ears, brains, everything. And if you have to remix, do it with those songs that very few have heard or which has been lost to a generation or go to a village and recreate a folk song that nobody has heard. By remixing songs that are already popular what are you trying to prove that the earlier person did a bad job or the person doing it now is far better? So, this is wrong. Totally wrong."

Deedar though begged to differ, adding, "I don't listen to a song as a remix. I listen to it as a song. If something has been remixed, but if I'm enjoying the music, I find it to be good. I don't judge songs just because they are remixes, and automatically decide they are bad. If a remix has been made well, I'll like that song, and if it hasn't, I won't like that song."

Shahid Mallya also spoke about the female attention he gets, and said, "It feels very good. A lot of my love letters that I had given were torn in school and college. So, I feel this is the right time now that I'm getting the attention, that wasn't the right time."

The two ended the interview by promising that we're going to see more collaborations between them in future.
