Sushant Singh Rajput's psychiatrist slams inaccurate reports; says, 'Confidentiality between a client and therapist is trampled'

A few days ago, in the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic suicide, reports surfaced of his psychiatrist having made statements about how the actor was missing ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande and repenting r having left her, days before taking that fatal, final step. However, yesterday, 21st June, new reports started doing the rounds in Bollywood news circles of how those comments were fabricated, and now, Sushant's psychiatrist himself has come forth and slammed the leading daily who had first published the inaccurate statements.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Sushant Singh Rajput's psychiatrist, Dr Kersi Chavda of Hinduja Hospital, wrote: "DCP zone 9... Abhishek Trimukhe....under whose preview I spoke for all of three minutes... had made this statement to the media... which was conveniently not posted. So... I have not even made a statement It is incredible how much filth there is in the media.. wherein the most basic "confidentiality issue" between a client and a therapist.. is just trampled upon with great impunity. So.. Dr Chavda.. the infamous one... has done nothing that could have caused so much of anguish and heartache in people. Dr. Chavda is a professional.. who is ethical. Dr. Chavda is known to maintain confidentiality. I hope this also goes far and wide. Thank god for professionals like DCP Abhishek.. who is aware of the tenets of client- dr privileged communication. On my request.. he was kind enough to send me this snapshot!!"

We hope that our media fraternity starts behaving more responsibly, especially when it comes to such sensitive cases. Breaching doctor-patient confidentiality is so not done, and sheds an extremely poor image on the entire fraternity. It's no wonder then that the common public is losing more faith on the media with each passing day.
