Filmy Friday: Jersey, Kaithi, Vikram Vedha – which south remake are you most excited for? Vote now

Over two decades, we have seen many south films getting remade in Bollywood, which turned out to be money-spinners at the box office. Right from Hungama, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke to Salman Khan's Wanted, Ranveer Singh's Simmba and Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh, we have classic examples of how Bollywood cashed in on south remakes. While we can question the originality of the films, but on the positive side, we should be happy that a regional content is getting acceptance through remakes in Bollywood. Since many south remakes have done wonders at the ticket windows, Bollywood has picked some more amazing scripts from down south and they are already high on buzz. Jersey

After Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is doing one more Telugu remake, Jersey, which is an adaptation of the 2019 Nani starrer of the same name. The sports drama will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original. It also features Pankaj Kapur and Mrunal Thakur in pivotal roles.

Kaithi

Karthi's 2019 superhit Kaithi will be remade with superstar Ajay Devgn. It will be bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment and Dream Warrior Pictures along with Ajay's own banner, ADFF. Reports suggest that Dharmendra Sharma will helm the Hindi remake.

Vikram Vedha

Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan's gangster film will be remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Reportedly, Pushkar-Gayathri, who directed the original project, will come on board for the remake as well and it will be co-produced by Baby, A Wednesday and Special 26 director Neeraj Pandey, who has bought the remake rights of the film.

Thadam

Sidharth Malhotra has come onboard for the Hindi remake of Arun Vijay's 2019 Tamil action-thriller, Thadam. Also starring Mrunal Thakur in a key role, the film will be produced by Murad Khetani and Bhushan Kumar, and will mark the directorial debut of Vardhan Ketkar.

Durgavati

Bhumi Pednekar starrer Durgavati is a horror film directed by G. Ashok, based on his own 2018 Telugu film Bhaagamathie. In the film, Bhumi will star as an IAS officer, a role essayed by Anushka Shetty in the original version.
