First Look! Deepika Padukone looks like a spitting image of Romi Dev in '83

Bollywood News: Two years after Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is reuniting with her husband, Ranveer Singh, on the big screen. The actress is playing a small but crucial part in Kabir Khan's '83, which is based on the Indian Cricket Team's 1983 World Cup Win. Deepika will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi Dev whereas Ranveer himself plays Kapil Dev. They will be seen as on-screen husband and wife. How beautiful! After releasing the first looks of every cricketer from the film, the makers have now dropped the first look of Deepika Padukone as Romi Dev. And she looks like a mirror image of Kapil Dev's wife. Elaborating on her small but crucial part in '83, Deepika told Bombay Times, "To be able to play a small, but significant part in a film that captures one of the most iconic moments in sporting history has been an absolute honour. Through my mother, I've seen closely the role of a wife. Wife plays in the success of her husband's professional and personal aspirations. '83, for me, in many ways is an ode to every woman who puts her husband's dream before her own."

On the other hand, Kabir Khan added, "Romi has charming & positive energy & Deepika has captured that with perfection. Her easy chemistry with Ranveer will also help in portraying the relationship that Kapil & Romi share. I'm delighted that Deepika has been such an integral part of our journey."

The film narrates the journey of Kapil Dev as well as how he became the captain of the India National Cricket Team and won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
