Week that was South: Indian 2 tragedy, #D40 motion poster, Bheeshma review

With another week gone by, thers's been the usual huatle and bustle in the world of entertainment. And just as the other film industries across the globe, the ones down South, too, made headlines for several reasons both cinematic and otherwise. From a shocking tragedy on the sets of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 and Nithiin's Bheeshma garnering the love of the audience to Dhanush's #D40 motion poster being all the rage, Sivakarthikeyan's first look of Doctor creating a stir and Vijay Deverakonda's World Famous Lover being declared a disaster here are the biggest South newsmakers this past week.

1.) Tragedy on the sets of Indian 2

The Tamil film industry was left in shock after a crane that crashed on the sets of Indian 2 took the lives of three asistant Directors. Even as condolences poured in from all quarters, Kamal Haasan pledged Rs. 1 crore each to the families of his slain staff members.

2.) #D40 motion poster

The motion poster of Dhanush's 40th film (tentative name, Jagame Thanthiram), being helemd by ace Director Karthik Subbaraj was released, and went viral in no time. After coming off huge commercial and critical hits like Asuran and Pattas, Dhanush would be looking to continue his winning streak.

3.) The audience loves Bheeshma

Twitterati has spoken and they've given two huge thumbs up for Nithiin's Bheeshma, and going by the looks of the opening-day collections, the film is headed to be a big hit.

4.) Doctor first look

The first look of Sivakarthikeyan's next, Doctor, was released to a rousing reception from his fans, and in general, too, the poster was liked by moviegoers, who were impressed by Siva's appearance. The film is touted to be an action-comedy, with elements related to the medical world.

5.) World Famous Lover is a Disaster

Vijay Deverakonda has got another disaster quick on the heels of NOTA as World Famous Lover has been flat out rejected by the audience. After a slightly underpar but hopeful opening day, the film fell flat from day 2 onward, with the word in the trade being that the audience is tired of watching the actor ride the coat-tails of his Arjun Reddy image in substandard clones, wishing that he does other stuff like Taxiwaala and Geetha Govindam. If his earlier release, Dear Comrade, hadn't scraped toward successful territory, then the failure of World Famous Lover would have stung Deverakonda even harder.
