Kushal Punjabi birth anniversary: Did you know that he was part of India's first English daily soap, A Mouthful Of Sky?

We lost one of TV's well-known actors Kushal Punjabi last year to depression. His demise took the TV industry by shock. It seems he was emotionally and mentally disturbed due to troubles in his married life. Throughout his career, Kushal Punjabi worked extensively in TV and movies. On the occasion of his 45th birth anniversary, here is some interesting detail about the actor. Kushal Punjabi made his debut with an English daily soap. Yes, he was a part of DD Metro's A Mouthful Of Sky. He was known before as an actor and model. Kushal Punjabi was part of an ensemble cast that included famous names like Samir Soni, Ayesha Dharkar, Rahul Bose and Soni Razdan.

Well, A Mouthful Of Sky was the debut of another handsome hunk, Milind Soman. The famous model shared screen space with Kushal on the show. In his career, Kushal did break some stereotypes. He was part of the 1997 film, Bomgay which explored the city's gay culture. It was a short film directed by Riyad Vinci Wadia and Jagnu Sethna. It is regarded as the first film on LGBTQIA community in India. Kushal Punjabi played The Sodomiser in the collection of short films.

The film also starred Rahul Bose. Incidentally, Rahul Bose was also one of the main leads of A Mouthful Of Sky. The English language daily soap written by Ashok Banker was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. In fact, Kushal Punjabi did one more project with Rahul Bose. The movie was Bombay Boys directed by Kaizad Gustad. He is the same filmmaker who made Katrina Kaif's debut flick, Boom. Throughout his career, he worked with some big banners like Excel Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Cinevistaa.

He is survived by his parents, wife and son. Kushal Punjabi's last project was Ishq Main Marjawan that had Arjun Bijlani and Aalisha Panwar in lead roles.
