Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna SLAMS Ekta Kapoor for her version of Mahabharat — here's why

Mukesh Khanna, who played Bhishma in BR Chopra's Mahabharat in 1988, has slammed Ekta Kapoor for murdering Mahabharat in her show, Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki, which aired in 2008. After taking a dig at Sonakshi Sinha for having a little knowledge about Ramayan, the veteran actor has put Ekta on his radar. The actor's show Shaktimaan is all set to return to TV for the younger generation, but he is not willing to go Ekta Kapoor's way to bring back the show and is still busy looking for a perfect cast. Taking potshots at the TV czarina, Mukesh Khanna said that the new Shaktimaan cannot be made the way Ekta made Mahabharat by putting a tattoo on Draupadi's back.

"She had said that she was making Mahabharata for modern people. 'Sanskriti kabhi modern nahi ho sakti, putri. Jis din Sanskriti ko modern karoge, khatam ho jayegi' (Culture can never be modern, The day you try to make culture modern, the culture will be over)," he told the leading daily.

The actor seemed reluctant to accept Ekta Kapoor's version of Mahabharat. "f the serial name would be 'Kyunki Greek Bhi Kabhi Hindustani the, then I would accept Ekta's Mahabharat. Who has given them the right to slaughter an epic? They have changed the actual version of Devarath's 'Bhishma Pratigya' to something else and created a vamp-like image for Satyavati, among other things in the show. They tried to be smarter than Vyas muni (Ved Vyasa, who wrote Mahabharata) to which I have an objection. I want to point out that Ramayana and Mahabharata are not mythologies, they are our histories," he added.

Before slamming Ekta Kapoor, the Shaktimaan actor had taken a potshot at people like Sonakshi Sinha, who has a little knowledge about Ramayan. "I think the reruns will be useful to many who haven't watched the show earlier. It will also help people like Sonakshi Sinha who have no knowledge about our mythological sagas. People like her don't know who did lord Hanuman get Sanjivani for," he had told TOI.
