The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted a lot of things and sporting events are no exception. Cricket is one big religion in India and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the big annual event that brings together cricketers from India and many other countries. It usually happens in the months of April and May, but this year, it didn't happen due to the lockdown. Many people thought that it would be cancelled this year. However, there is a recent talk that the event might happen in September and October. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has written to the state associations to say that he was optimistic about hosting the IPL, in empty stadiums if needed. This possibility of the IPL happening this year caught the attention of meme makers. It is still scary to think of any event, and that fear was evident in most memes. Here's a look:

 

Governing Council Chairman of Indian Premier League, Brijesh Patel has said India is the first choice venue to host the IPL but the BCCI will take into account the COVID-19 situation during September and October and consult with the government before taking a final call. He also did not rule out the possibility of the IPL 2020 being held across a limited number of venues. He said that the BCCI is open to playing without crowds as players' safety is their primary concern.
