Confirmed! Manushi Chhillar to play Sanyogita to Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj Chauhan

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar has been rumoured to make her big Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films' highly anticipated movie Prithviraj. While the rumours were still on, it is finally confirmed that Manushi is the leading lady of the historical saga, based on the life and heroism of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. Interestingly, while Akshay Kumar will be seen as Prithviraj, Manushi will play his love interest Sanyogita. The 22-year-old will witness one of the biggest debuts of late. The movie is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for helming TV shows Chanakya. The filmmaker also won a lot of critical acclaim and awards for his film Pinjar (2003).

Talking about her dream debut on the silver screen, the actress in conversation with BombayTimes said, "It is a huge honour to have been chosen by a production house like Yash Raj Films as their heroine. I'm thrilled about the learnings that I will have through this journey. My life, so far, has really been a fairy tale...getting such a big project as my debut film, it's like a new, exciting chapter of my life." Talking about her character, she added, "It is a huge responsibility to play princess Sanyogita. She was a powerful personality and stood up for what is right and took the most important decisions of her life herself. Her life is an extremely important chapter in Indian history, and I will try my best to play her as accurately as possible."

Meanwhile, the filmmaker talking about ambitious project said, "We auditioned a lot of young, fresh faces for the role because we were looking for a stunningly gorgeous Indian heroine. While Sanyogita was an incredibly beautiful person, she was also a strong and confident girl. We were looking for someone who could match the magnetic persona of Sanyogita and we found that in Manushi. She auditioned for the role a couple of times, because we wanted to be sure about the casting. She nailed the audition each time. She has been rehearsing six days a week since then and is being thoroughly groomed for the last nine months by YRF."

The movie is slated to release in Diwali 2020.
